Down to the wire, this was completed. Holy. 

I want to thank Brent and Ford4466 for helping me out with this game jam, especially when it got to the literal last couple of hours before doomsday hit. This is probably the hardest my team and I have worked on a game jam, even to the point where there were still so many things to do.  Regardless of that, here are some directions of how to play the game:

Move with WASD.

You can use your axe with 'E'. 
This can chop trees down and give you planks and kill enemies.
Pro tip: Enemies can't really damage you; just take them as a free way to get your currency.  Wink Wink.

While near the campfire, you can press 2, 3, or 4, depending on how many planks you have in your inventory, to increase the burning time of the fire.

If you are near the campfire, you can press 'E', and get a huge list of upgrades. The top right corner serves its purpose by indicating how much currency you have to purchase this equipment.

If you're not near the campfire, you can press 2, 3, or 4 to plant an acorn into the ground, growing a new tree.

Other than that, survive as long as you can.

We as a team believed the balance theme comes into the idea that one must balance their use of limited resources and quickly utilize what they have now at hand to be able to make their survivability prolonged and much more efficient.

Regardless, we've done our best, and with a sip of coffee and a Dr. Pepper, we've managed to get a pretty decent game going. Hope you enjoy it, and please tell us if there are any bugs we should take note of!
